To be premiered by the Monarch Brass on Saturday, May 24, 2025 in Hartford, Connecticut at the 2025 International Women's Brass Conference with Robyn Bell conducting.
Shadows held us, cold and deep,
A silent prison where secrets sleep.
Voices muffled, spirits bound,
By unseen hands on hallowed ground.
Moving like specters, a hidden tide,
Stealing freedoms, where truths reside.
Their whispered mandates, powers unseen,
the puppet's dance, a broken dream.
But in the darkness, a flicker grew,
A spark ignited, piercing through.
The silent whispers began to rise,
A chorus swelling, towards open skies.
No longer muted, no longer tame,
A roaring current, calling our name.
The veil was shattered, the slumber broke,
A unified voice, where courage spoke.
The shadows retreated, their grip released,
minds awakened, burdens ceased.
The light of knowledge, a blinding ray,
Revealing the falsehoods, day by day.
Illuminations, a radiant flood,
Washing the darkness, where secrets stood.
We saw the patterns, the hidden chains,
broke the cycles, erasing stains.
No longer puppets, in their shadowed play,
claim Our voices, light the way.
The truth unveiled, beaconing bright,
Guides our steps, towards endless light.
For in the awakening, power is found,
In unity's strength, on the same hallowed ground.
From shadows to brilliance, our spirits soar;
enlightened, Illuminated, forevermore.
